The Protekt Aire 6000AB Low Air Loss/Alternating Pressure Mattress System from Proactive Medical implements a combination of low air loss and alternating pressure to help treat and prevent pressure ulcers and other pressure-associated conditions and discomforts. The mattress features a series of horizontally-directed air cells through which the air and alternating pressure are applied. The system offers 4 alternating cycles of 10, 15, 20, or 25 minutes that shift and redistribute pressure regularly to ensure that pressure does not accumulate consistently in one region for an extended period of time. In this way, the mattress eliminates the consistent pressure that causes pressure ulcers and other conditions and discomforts commonly associated with time spent in bed. This alternating pressure, combined with the mattress's low air loss capability, make it a must-have item for any care setting in which patients spend extended time in bed, such as hospitals, assisted care facilities, or at home.
